<dc:description>The CCAA Herbarium, cated at the Centro de Ciências de Chapadinha, UFMA, UFMA, in the municipality of Chapadinha, Maranhão, was created in 2017 with the purpose of storing and preserving specimens of the flora of Maranhão, serving as a scientific reference for the Cerrado and Amazon biomes in the region. Comprising 5,215 samples, including bryophytes, ferns, lycophytes, and angiosperms, the collection is essential for botanical research in the state. All specimens originate from research projects, interinstitutional collaborations, and donations, and are used in various academic activities such as course completion papers, dissertations, theses, and taxonomy courses. Since 2018, the collection has been digitized and registered in the Brazilian Network of Herbaria and, since 2022, in the Index Herbariorum, ensuring its visibility and access to national and international researchers. Its physical structure covers approximately 49 m2, divided into three main areas: the collection room, which houses nine steel cabinets for storing exsiccates, four of which are for ferns, three for angiosperms, and two for bryophytes, a mobile bench, three office tables, a computer, an air conditioning, a dehumidifier, and chairs; the material preparation room, with a fixed bench, a sink, and field materials; and the drying room, with two handmade greenhouses. </dc:description>
