The Collection of Multifunctional Microorganisms of Environmental and Biotechnological Interest at Unioeste (CCMMIAB-UNIO) currently has about 400 multifunctional microorganisms and was carried out a survey of microbial biodiversity in soil and water, mainly in Paraná and Pará, with potential for environmental application, agricultural, industrial or health care. CCMMIAB-UNIO includes bacteria and fungi, such as nitrogen fixers and plant growth promoters, metabolite producers, metal removal and biotransformation, in the control of human, veterinary and agricultural pathogens; This collection contributes to the prospection and evaluation of the biotechnological potential of multifunctional microorganisms for many applications in agriculture and in the environment, such as promoting productivity increases, reducing dependence on agrochemicals and environmental recovery.
