The CNMT Herbarium started its activities in 2010 and is located at UFMT Campus of Sinop, in the city of Sinop, Mato Grosso State, Brazil. The collection of the CNMT Herbarium has approximately 5.000 herbarium specimens (exsiccatae) of various plant groups (algae, bryophytes, ferns, gymnosperms and angiosperms) from collects in the region, particularly in the Amazon and cerrado biome, since the city is located in the Amazon rainforest-cerrado transition.
