<dc:description>The Palynotheca of the Herbarium of the `Luiz de Queiroz` College of Agriculture (ESA-POL) is a collection associated with the Herbarium of the `Luiz de Queiroz` College of Agriculture (ESA), integrating the set of biological collections of the institution and expanding its role as a reference center for botanical documentation. The collection currently comprises approximately 1,700 permanent slides, prepared from specimens belonging to the ESA Herbarium collection. These slides were produced by researchers from the Center for Nuclear Energy in Agriculture (CENA/USP), within the scope of a project led by Prof. Luiz Carlos Ruiz Pessenda, with the participation of students Antonio Álvaro Buso Jr., Mariah Izar Francisquini, and Flávio Lima Lorente. The material was carefully prepared to encompass the main genera of the botanical families represented in the ESA Herbarium, making the collection representative of most of the flora of the state of São Paulo and a valuable resource for comparative palynological studies. The collection is in a continuous process of expansion, with the planned incorporation of new materials obtained from recent fieldwork, institutional exchanges, and ongoing research projects. One of these is the project “Cataloging the collection of pollen and spore slides of the Herbarium of the `Luiz de Queiroz` College of Agriculture (ESA Herbarium)”, supported by the Unified Scholarship Program of the University of São Paulo (PUB). The project is supervised by Prof. Dr. Priscila Orlandini, from the Department of Biological Sciences at ESALQ/USP, and has as its scholarship holder the student Juliana Dias Parra, who is responsible for the digitization and organization of the palynotheca data. Through these initiatives, ESA-POL aims to stabilish itself as a reference collection for studies in palynology, plant systematics, ecology, and biodiversity conservation, while also contributing to the training of students and researchers and to the integration of the biological collections of the University of São Paulo, strengthening both the shared use and the scientific value of institutional collections.</dc:description>
