The ichthyology lab of the Acquatic Ecology Group had its fish collection formed initially to support research projects performed in Amazon drainages by researches of Federal University of Pará (UFPA). The collection is currently composed by approximately 2,000 lots catalogued (approximately 12,000 fish specimens) and about 25,000 lots in cataloguing process. The specimens come from collects of research projects made in freshwater, estuary, and marine, most collected in State of Pará (~80%) collected in these three environments. The collection contain yet specimens collected in estuary/marine environments from States of Bahia (~5%), Ceará, Espirito Santo, Rio Grande do Norte, and Sergipe (~3% each), and in States of Amapá, Amazonas, Maranhão, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Piauí and Rio de Janeiro (~1% each).
