The herbarium has about 3,000 species of plants, separated by families, with emphasis on trees of Caatinga and Atlantic Forest of northeastern Brazil. Its relevance is to provide users, researchers and students, samples of flora of Pernambuco in two biomes. It also allows students to engage in research in plant science applied to conservation and taxonomy. Also available is a collection of woods with over 5,000 samples.
