The HUVA Herbarium is linked to the Biological Sciences course at the Vale do Acaraú State University (UVA), Sobral, Ceará, Brazil. Inaugurated on October 1, 1999, it was formally registered on the Index Herbariorum in 2007. Currently, HUVA is the second largest botanical collection in the state of Ceará, with a collection of more than 27,000 samples, mainly from the Caatinga of the Northwest Mesoregion of the state of Ceará.
