The herbarium ISE, whose acronym represents the city of Itabaiana (I) and the state of Sergipe (SE), where it is located, was created on April 17, 2012. The herbarium ISE was created exclusively in order to be a depository of collections of lichenized fungi (lichens), comprising a total of approximately 16,000 dried specimens, mostly corticicolous crustose lichens, from different Brazilian biomes like the Atlantic Forest, Amazon, Caatinga, Restinga and Mangroves.
