The José Ângelo Rizzo Herbarium (JAR) was
inaugurated in 2012, with the mission of
expanding the knowledge of Flora de Goiás,
especially in the Southern Region of Goiás
(inserted in the Cerrado Biome), as well as
providing subsidies for research and teaching
in the area of botany. It currently has about
5000 records distributed among bryophytes,
ferns, lyophytes and angiosperms, mainly
herbaceous and shrub. The main families of
the collection are Poaceae, Cyperaceae,
Melastomataceae, Asteraceae, Eriocaulaceae,
among others.
