The collection of ferns and lycophytes at the Maranhão Herbarium (MAR) currently has 100 records, which are of great scientific, ecological and conservational relevance. These plant groups, among the oldest in the evolutionary history of plants, are essential for understanding the diversity and dynamics of tropical ecosystems.
