The ichthyological collection originated from scientific research projects and environmental consultancies conducted mainly in the Triângulo Mineiro and Alto Paranaíba regions (Minas Gerais State, Brazil). Currently, the collection comprises approximately 15,000 individuals cataloged into 1,697 lots, spanning eight main orders: Acanthuriformes, Characiformes, Siluriformes, Cyprinodontiformes, Cypriniformes, Cichliformes, Synbranchiformes, and Gymnotiformes. The specimens support higher education, university outreach, and scientific research activities at the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU), as well as collaborative projects with other institutions.
