This collection was established through paleontological prospecting projects in the state of Minas Gerais (MG - Brazil). Currently, it includes fossils ranging from the Proterozoic (Corumbá Group), Triassic (Paraná Basin), Cretaceous (formations of Bauru Group and the Araripe, Almada and São Luís Basins), Miocene (Solimões Formation) and Pleistocene, originating from the region of Triângulo Mineiro. All of these collecting efforts yielded skeletal elements (anurans, crocodiles, dinosaurs, lepidosaurs, mammals, fishes and turtles), ichnofossils, invertebrates (molluscs) and specimens to be prepared. The collection also has an assemblage of paleobotanical specimens from the Cretaceous, collected in partnership with the Brazilian Antarctic Project (PROANTAR). The specimens support the activities conducted at the Federal University of Uberlândia, such as higher education, university outreach and scientific research, and through collaborations with other institutions.
