The Herpetological Collection of MCN PUC Minas includes approximately 30 thousands specimens of amphibians and reptiles. The majority of this archive corresponds to adults specimens, conserved in alcohol. The collection has specimens from, meanly, the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, and could be characterized as a regional collection. It includes an important material from the meridional portion of Serra do Espinhaço mountain range. However, the collection has been receiving collected specimens from researches projects and environmental studies of Brazilian researchers. Holotypes and paratypes of recently described species of Minas Gerais States are deposited in MCN PUC Minas herpetological collection. The collection is also a space of development of studies by students.
