<dc:description>The collection includes an important documentation of amphibians from southern Brazil. It has, for example, historical records on areas now deeply impacted by human action, as the metropolitan area of Porto Alegre and the Atlantic Forest remnants of the state. It is represented by more than 11 thousand specimens of over 270 species, mostly adults, individually numbered and kept in jars with alcohol 70 º GL and tadpoles, numbered in lots and maintained in 10% formalin. Most of the material is from the Rio Grande do Sul (55.5%), but there is a good sampling of Santa Catarina (18.3%). There is also representative samples of the Brazilian Cerrado region and the Amazon rain forest. There are representatives of 22 families, mainly: Hylidae (45%), Leptodactylidae (12.7%), Bufonidae (12.4%), Leiuperidae (12.2%) and others (17.7%). The collection contains eight holotypes, 89 paratypes, and two paratopotypes. </dc:description>
