The collection has over 9,000 lots (estimated above 146 thousand specimens) of terrestrial, freshwater and marine mollusks, derived mainly from Brazil, with significant representation from the states of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina, from areas of environmental studies, localities in the upper and middle Uruguay River, Research Center and Nature Conservation - Pró-Mata in San Francisco de Paula, RS, Guaíba Lake and rivers of the Jacui River basin. The collection has also representatives from other states and other countries of South America and Europe.
The classes Gastropoda and Bivalvia are the best represented, followed by Polyplacophora, Scaphopoda and Cephalopoda.
The collection has five holotypes and 45 paratypes.
