	<dc:description>The scientific collection of reptiles is represented by over 18 thousand specimens (465 species), individually numbered and kept in jars with alcohol 70° GL. The collection is mostly regional, with 64% from the Rio Grande do Sul, and the remainder from Goias (10.0%), Santa Catarina (7.8%), Paraná (5%),  and other Brazilian states and countries (13.2%). Among the groups represented in the reptile collection, snakes are predominant (73.8%), followed by lizards (20.6%), amphisbaenians (4.9%), turtles (0.6%) and alligators (0.1 %). Among the snakes, the most represented families are Dipsadidae (61.6%) and Viperidae (22.0%), followed by Colubridae (7.1%), Elapidae (7.0%) and other families (2.3%). The collection contains eight holotypes, two lectotypes,15 paratypes, and  three paratopotypes.</dc:description>
