The SAMES Herbarium - acronym that corresponds to the city and state of location (São Mateus, Espírito Santo) - was officially registered in the Index Herbariorum in 2016, but its creation dates back to 2006, with the interiorization of the Federal University of Espírito Santo, through the creation of the North University Center of Espírito Santo (CEUNES), in the city of São Mateus. SAMES currently holds specimens of lichenized and non-lichenized macrofungi, representative of the tabuleiro forests environments of the state of Espírito Santo.
