The UFG herbarium collection was formed on two collection plans: 1) for the municipality of Goiânia, and 2) for the Flora of Goiás (now Goiás and Tocantins). These started in March 1969 and ended November 1974, resulting in 9.605 botanical collections. At present the collection has 43.226 records. It is of great importance for the flora of the states of Goiás and Tocantins.
