	<dc:description>The Reptilia collection of the Museu de Zoologia `Prof. Adão José Cardoso` located at the Universidade
Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP) has approximately 3.184 recorded specimens, mainly Squamata. The collection is derived from surveys of
programs, travel, and projects developed with institutional basis for teachers, researchers and graduate students, and the programme
of Post-Graduate Studies in Ecology (based in the Departamento  de Zoologia, Instituto de Biologia, UNICAMP). The material is
preserved in alcohol 70%, including  7 holotypes and 31paratypes. Only six specimens are preserved dry. The specimens come from
different geographical regions of Brazil, and has been made since the mid-1970, subsequently to the above-mentioned period, it was
taking body with the inclusion of copies of draft agreements institutional, like (UNICAMP / = FUMDHAM Foundation American Museum of
Man) and collaboration (IB / IFCH UNICAMP), respectively, developed in the Parque Nacional Serra da Capivara, PIAUÍ, Brazil(1988 and
1989) and the Reserva Extrativista do Alto Jurua, ACRE, Brazil (1993 and 1994), and others still in progress The collection has a
scientific purpose, destined to scientific researchers and students interested in studies of natural history, systematic and taxonomy
of reptiles. All specimens are only available for academic purposes, which may be borrowed (except holotypes, and specimens
paratypes-testimony cited in scientific papers) or be examined in the museum itself. The process of cataloguing and computerisation of
the collection is in progress and uses the database manager of MS-Access.</dc:description>
